Philo Jefferson Harvey's Obituary
Philo Jefferson "PJ" Harvey passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at Iris Memory Care in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 82 years old.
Born on June 11, 1942, in North Hollywood, California, PJ was the son of Philo J. and Bernice Elizabeth (Reynolds) Harvey. He graduated from Montclair High School before embarking on a remarkable journey of service and achievement.
PJ honorably served in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret in the Special Forces, demonstrating his commitment to his country. After his military service, he continued to pursue academic excellence, studying at Phoenix College and Arizona State University before earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing from the University of Southern California.
On December 23, 1966, PJ married the love of his life, Vicky Lynn, at St. Mary's Basilica in downtown Phoenix. Their enduring partnership became a testament to love, mutual respect, and shared dreams.
As a passionate entrepreneur, PJ founded and operated PJH Brands/PJ1, a pioneering company specializing in motorcycle products, aerosol paints, and TrackBite compound for drag strips. His business philosophy was simple yet profound: "I love what I do, so I've never worked a day in my life." This approach drove him to develop world-renowned products that transformed the motorcycle and racing industries.
PJ was more than a businessman; he was an advocate and supporter of motorcycle and auto racing. His involvement with organizations like AMA Pro Racing and NHRA, IHRA went beyond commercial interests. He traveled globally, teaching, supporting, and encouraging racers, tracks, and organizations, leaving an indelible mark on the motorsports community.
His leadership extended to serving as Chairman of the Board of the American Motorcycle Association, where he combined his business expertise with his passion for the motorcycle community. PJ's ability to see potential in opportunities and people was truly remarkable.
When not immersed in business, PJ enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going to drag race motorcross, piloting his aircraft, and occasionally playing golf. Those who knew him remember a man who was fun-loving, witty, and capable of serious reflection when circumstances demanded.
PJ is survived by his loving wife, Vicky Lynn; daughters Brandy Lynn Redyke (Jared) and Penny Lynn Harvey; granddaughter Kaylee Lynn Fisher (Travis); twin sister Nan Ketner; and sister Gayne Pinto. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Penny Lynne Monarch.
Although PJ's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit of innovation, passion, and dedication as well as God, family, and country will continue to inspire generations of motorsports enthusiasts and entrepreneurs.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
