A celebration of life honoring Leeann Belford Wheeler will be held 10 AM Friday, June 23, 2023 in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. Interment will follow in the Bixby Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Thursday at Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service. Leeann passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 18, 2023 at Saint Francis South Hospital in Tulsa. She was 72 years old.
Leeann was born July 10, 1950 in Tulsa, Ok. She was the daughter of Guy Ponca Belford Jr. and Colleen Joyce (Marrs) Belford. She graduated from Broken Arrow High School with the Class of 1968. She worked with her family running Tulsa-Whisenhunt Funeral Homes in Tulsa during the 1960's.
On March 7th, 1970, Leeann married the love of her life, James Alva Wheeler. She was a devoted wife and a proud mother, grandmother, and friend to all.
Leeann was passionate about her work as a client advocate serving people with developmental disabilities at Hissom Memorial Center, as well as several other organizations, beginning in late 1980's until her retirement in 2018.
A traveler at heart, Leeann enjoyed taking road trips to Eureka Springs. She also loved scrapbooking. Leeann remained a passionate Oklahoma State Cowboy fan throughout her lifetime, never missing a game. Her true love was family though. Whether it was a simple get together over dinner or family reunions at Roaring River, Leeann just loved being with family.
Surviving family include her daughter, Traci Ellis and husband, Jeremie Landis; her grandchildren, Cody, Christopher, and Ciya Ellis; her brothers, Pat Belford and wife, Cindy and Mike Belford and wife, Deborah; sister-in-law, Rene Belford; her cousins, Randy and Chris Marrs, Scott and Angela Marrs, Bekki Belford; numerous extended family and friends; as well as her fur-baby, Maddie.
Leeann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Tim Belford; her cousins, David Belford and Barbara Belford.
