I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I can remember the first time I heard her sing - it was at First Christian Church and the TCU choir came to perform and she sang with them. I was mesmerized by her rendition of "Summertime". She sang at my brother's wedding in '78 and mine in '83. She was a talented and beautiful lady, inside and out.
Hi cousins. Mom and I are remembering your mom quite fondly. Mom said she and her sister would laugh how their mil would put them against each other and what it took for them to get their hubbies to call her. They would laugh and joke and then chat about us kids. Mom said she is so sad her sister has gone but happy she is with jack. I will always remember aunt Kay. Calling me darlin with her lovely southern drawl. Looked forward to that and her infectious laugh with a fun conversation about what ever we found interesting. I am blessed to have had my aunt Kay (and my cousins) in my life. We will remember you, aunt Kay with a smile.
My only memories of cousin Kay are from when I was a child, but I always thought she was the most beautiful and glamorous woman I had ever seen. I remember her kindness and humor.
Kay was my Mom's best friend for many years. I was an early teen when they met, and always thought of her as the most beautiful, elegant and talented person I'd known in my short life. I never suspected that she would change the trajectory of my life. But, her advice and counsel at an important juncture led me to the path that defined the rest of my life. I suppose she was a great influence on many others as well, because she really cared, and she was determined to make a positive difference in the lives of others. I'm so grateful to have had her in my life for all these years, and will never forget her generosity of spirit and love for her fellow travelers.
