‘Lita was a precious friend to me for 54 years. (I bought my first horse from her and husband, Jim, when I was 16—and, over that dear little gelding, we built a lifelong friendship!) We just “clicked,” likng each other, and growing to love each other dearly. We could always communicate honestly; I appreciated her genuine kindness and wonderful sense of humor. Somewhere along the line, ‘Lita worked as Receptionist in our veterinary hospital; she doubted her abilities, but she added so much to our time there—genuine empathy, and plenty of love and laughter. She did a great job, and her confidence grew in a wonderful way! Then, even further down the line, her daughter, Melanie (whom I had loved dearly since she was a little girl) married my X-husband, the veterinarian! And, even through all that chaos, ‘Lita and I remained steadfast friends. Crazy, huh?! —That time even gave rise to my favorite ‘Lita quote that she’d deliver with a wink and a grin, “Life is a funny thing!” I love you, Dear Precious Friend. Life will never be the same without you. I hope you and your Gramma and Grampa W., and Boyd and Maxine, and Monty, and Melanie, and Jessie, (and a few beloved dogs and horses!) are gathered in the finest of celebrations…..
