James Dean Tabor's Obituary
James "Jim" Dean Tabor, 76, passed away on June 10, 2026, at University Village in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Jim was born June 12, 1949, in Tulsa, to Ewell Dean and Betty Louise (Parrish) Tabor. He graduated from Edison High School in Tulsa in 1967, after which he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving honorably during the Vietnam Conflict from January 11, 1968, to March 26, 1971.
Jim went on to work as an inspector at Tinker Air Force Base. He raised his two sons, John and Chad, primarily in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. He was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed collecting guns and coins and had a passion for racing cars. He will be remembered as friendly, humorous, outgoing, and a man with a sweet and gentle nature.
Jim is survived by his two sons, John Tabor and Chad Tabor; his sister, Beverly Mize and her husband, Michael; and his brother, Mark Wayne Tabor and his wife, Beckie.
A funeral ceremony honoring Jim's life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Rivercrest Chapel, with interment to follow at Bixby Cemetery.
