A funeral service honoring Gary Lee Neumeyer will be held 10 AM Wednesday, October 4, 2022 at the Rivercrest Chapel in Bixby. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Tuesday evening, also at Rivercrest. Gary passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 in Tulsa. He was 68 years old.
Born October 14, 1953 in Tulsa, Gary was the son of Bennie Lee and Regina (Williams) Neumeyer. He grew up on a farm near Council Hill where the family raised cattle, enjoyed gardening, fishing at the pond, camping, and just doing most anything outdoors. Gary excelled in academics from an early age, graduating from Will Rogers High School with the Class of 1971. Proud of his heritage, Gary was involved in the German Club during high school.
Following high school, Gary attended Tulsa Junior College and eventually Northeastern State University. He earned his master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Wichita State. Gary would pursue a successful career in law enforcement, gaining employment with the Tulsa, Stillwater, Dodge City, and Yuma police departments. Ultimately, Gary became a professor of Criminal Justice for St. Mary’s of the Plains College.
Gary never said no to anybody and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved scuba diving in the local area Oklahoma lakes as well as the Florida coast. Known to be somewhat of a foodie, Gary loved eating at Los Cabos in Broken Arrow and El Pepe’s in Yuma. A member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Gary established numerous long-lasting friendships within the law enforcement community. May his memory be eternal amongst a host of family and friends who loved him.
Surviving family include his wife, Debra; his mother Regina Neumeyer; his children, Justin Neumeyer and Ashley Neumeyer; and two grandchildren, Jadyn, Kenzee, and one on the way; his siblings, Staci Pogue, Traci Foster, Steve Neumeyer, and Regina Walden.
Gary was preceded in death by his father.
