Wilson Largent Obituary
In Loving Memory of Wilson Cleborn Largent
Wilson Cleborn Largent, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024. He was born on December 15, 1946, in Porum, Oklahoma, to Walter Cleborn Largent and Viva Pauline (Wildhaber) Largent.
In 1947, Wilson moved to McFarland, California, where he attended school and became a proud member of the football team. He was later inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993. Wilson graduated from Liberty Union High School in 1965.
Wilson showcased his musical talents as the lead singer in his own band, which played at various school events. In Antioch, California, he met the love of his life, Kathleen Klock, and together they moved to Oklahoma in 1972. The couple married in 1973 and welcomed their son, Wade, the same year. In 1982, they welcomed their daughter, Alysia, into the world.
Wilson owned and operated a gas station at 41st and Union for several years. He pursued a career as an electrician, and managed various companies. His entrepreneurial spirit earned the nickname "Wheelin' Dealin' Wil." Wilson, along with his father Walter, who was an auctioneer and deal-maker extraordinaire, would buy old tractors, restore them, and sell them.
Horses were a constant presence in Wilson's life, and he shared his passion with his family. He enjoyed roping, attending rodeos and long trail rides with friends.
Wilson and his family created memorable moments at lakes Eufaula and Keystone, where they would go camping, boating and skiing on the weekends.
Wilson was a devoted family man, and the arrival of his first grandchild, Aubrey, in 1996, Josie, in 2015, and West & Hazel, in 2017, brought him immeasurable joy. He loved nothing more than being a grandpa to his four grandchildren.
Wilson retired to Flint Ridge in 2007, where he loved spending time on his tractor, riding four-wheelers with friends, telling stories and exploring the beauty along the Illinois River.
Wilson is survived by his loving daughter, Alysia Elliott, and her husband Brian, along with his cherished grandchildren, Josie, Hazel and West, Aubrey Burns and her husband Chase, and great-grandson Lochlan. He is also survived by his siblings Sandy Miller and husband Gary, Terry Largent and Mallory Ball and husband, Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen, his son, Wade, his sister, Carol Whitson, and his parents, Walter Largent and Viva Wildhaber.
Wilson Cleborn Largent will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for horses and tractors, and his strong spirit. May he rest in eternal peace.
