Warren Hollingshead Obituary
Services honoring Warren Eugene Hollingshead will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Riverview Baptist Church, 13201 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. Warren, also known as Papo by many, passed away peacefully alongside family Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the Porta Caeli House in Tulsa. He was 77 years old.
Warren was born in Monahans, Texas on April 5, 1945 to Woodrow Wilson and Goldie Caroline (Hundertmark) Hollingshead. Thereafter, the family would make Lawton, Oklahoma their home to be closer to family where he attended a one-room school just outside of town. Later their family moved to Roswell, New Mexico where he eventually attended North Jr. High and Roswell High School.
Following high school, Warren was employed by Furr’s Supermarket. It was there he met Susan, the love his life, who heard from her friends about a cute boy behind the counter. Their love story began at just 14 and 17 years old. Warren and Susan were married October 31, 1963 in Brownsville, Texas. Just a few months later, they welcomed their daughter April born in Roswell, New Mexico. Seven years later, their first son Blake was born in Los Cruces, New Mexico. Lastly, they welcomed their youngest son Craig six years later in Los Cruces, New Mexico. Warren and Susan spent 59 joyous years together in marriage.
Warren eventually pursued a rewarding 43-year career with Nabisco where a legacy of diligence ensued. He began his career as a sales representative in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This career path led him to destinations such as Dallas, Tulsa, and Oklahoma City. He regularly entertained clients at the Texas Motor Speedway and professional sporting events with the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Warren was the man behind the grill with both clients and family. Warren earned promotions to sales supervisor, branch manager, account manager, and eventually district manager of the Nabisco branch in Oklahoma City. Following retirement in 2010, Warren could not keep his feet planted for long and pursued a part-time position at Academy Sports and Outdoors behind the gun-bar helping families and fellow hunters. Throughout his career, Warren not only excelled professionally, but was more importantly a steward to young men and women who he equipped with dignity and honor.
Warren would truly “rather be fishing!” As a young man, he participated in numerous bass tournaments with a great deal of success. During his retirement years, Warren mostly fished for Crappie on Lake Arcadia where he served on the Board of Parks and Recreation. It was there he cherished so many friendships he made at the “Crappie Shack” - where they loved to drink coffee and solve the world’s problems! Most importantly, Warren lived out his lifelong dream of living on a piece of land alongside his family in Leonard, Oklahoma. It was here that he found much fulfillment watching his family grow in both number and love. Papo especially loved watching his great grandchildren through their childhood years. He found joy every morning when his great grandchildren would bust through the back door anticipating a delicious country breakfast accompanied with a side of love. Warren’s life is a testimony of all things he loved and cherished and will be celebrated by many. May he rest in the eternal peace of our Heavenly Father and experience the incomprehensible joy behind Porta Caeli, otherwise known as Heaven’s Gate.
Surviving family include his wife, Susan; children: April Kerr and her husband, Fred of Bixby, Blake Hollingshead and his wife, Macy of Mannford, Craig Hollingshead and his wife, Lidia of Oklahoma City; his grandchildren: Chelsea Ingram and husband Mitchell, Rebecca Baggett and husband James, Gage McCubbin and fiancé Ashleigh Heath, Baywiin Hollingshead and wife Venice, Kaiden Hollingshead and Irelynn Hollingshead; great-grandchildren Grayson, Cameron, Logan, and Breckyn Ingram, Ryker and Gentry Baggett, and Scarlett Hollingshead.
