Tommy Douglas Cardwell was born December 8, 1948 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Clyde Cardwell and Ruby (Burkhart) Cardwell. As a child, Tommy’s family moved to Medford where he and his eleven siblings were raised. Upon high school graduation, Tom moved to Alva where he attended college at North Western Oklahoma State University. He joined the Army National Guard and relocated to Tulsa to be near family. He sought employment working for his brother, L.D. at Allied Fence before working at Ace Fence where he retired in 2010.Tom developed a great love for the outdoors at a young age. There was no place he would rather be than fishing or hunting. He spent many weekends fishing in bass tournaments all over Northeast Oklahoma and was named the Oklahoma Angler of the year three different times. When he wasn’t busy fishing, he could likely be found in Medford hunting and spending time with family. Tom passed away December 31, 2020 in Tulsa. He was 72. A service to honor his life will be held at a later date.Those he leaves to cherish his memory are sons, Tony Cardwell and Jason Cardwell; loving ex-wife, Nola Cardwell; brothers, Rick Cardwell and Danny Cardwell; sisters, Reba Scates, Vickey Wirtz and Janie Loman; along with 26 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clydean Dark, L.D. Cardwell, Joy Shaw, Archie Cardwell, Carol Kennedy and Royce Cardwell; and nephews, Scott Dark and Michael Scates.
