Tara Glick Obituary Born December 18, 1975, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tara Brooke Glick was the daughter of James Alan “Jim” and Beverly June (Easton) Glick. Tara was also welcomed by a big brother, Kevin. The Glick family has resided in Bixby a few different times over the years. In many ways, it is considered the old home place and it is certainly a place where family roots run deep and where they are well-established. There have also been various other locations that the family has lived and those, too, became special to sweet Tara and her family. Humble and Arlington, Texas were a couple of them, along with stops in Tennessee and Georgia. There is no doubt that wherever Tara went, she always left her mark and she seemed to leave those parts of the world a better place! Words used to describe Tara include kind, sweet, and precious. She indeed had her own, distinct set of challenges; however, she never let that slow her down. She accomplished more than most could ever even dream of. To begin, Tara loved sports and she played them all too. She participated in gymnastics, softball, and golf to name a few. In softball, Tara’s team was not necessarily skilled – at least in the beginning. In all honesty, it seemed this team’s performance even led their first coach to throw in the towel. Luckily, with a bit of encouragement from Tara’s mom, Beverly, Tara’s dad, Jim, became the second coach. (In other words, she volunteered him!) What Jim had going for him was – it couldn’t get any worse. Really to no one’s surprise, this group devoted themselves to a diligent practice schedule for several months. By the time that the next season rolled around, not only could the team play the game and win, but they also had the support of the entire town. A precious sight to see. Golf was another of Tara’s sports. When this game was the topic of conversation, however, the discussion turned more to Tara’s style than to her score. Tara was certainly one who loved clothes and shoes – and expensive ones at that! On the golf course, her attire was not complete without her shades or sunglasses. It was only then that she was ready to step up to the tee box. On the links, Tara earned the nickname ‘Hollywood’ for her fashionable style and play. If there wasn’t a ball involved, Tara would likely be found riding horses. Her first love of horses began when her dad traded for a mid-sized Welsh. The horse was a bit stubborn and difficult to deal with when either Jim or Bev attempted to mess with it, but once Tara came onto the scene – there was an immediate bond and a lasting friendship ensued. Through the years, Tara had and loved many horses. She competed in numerous events and competitions around the country. She accumulated a vast collection of trophies and awards for those winnings. A favorite memory, which shows the determination and grit that Tara embodied was when she began training to compete in barrel racing at the Special Olympics. She was disqualified three years in a row, but in the fourth year – she won the entire competition and had the crowd going wild at the same time. In addition to sports and horses, Tara even became an accomplished magician. She was a member of a group that learned many tricks of the trade and was even invited to meet and perform at David Copperfield’s venue. Tara accomplished many extraordinary things throughout her lifetime. What was most extraordinary about her though was her simplicity and compassion. Tara was always looking out for others. She never saw bad in anyone. Whatever Tara set out to do, she embraced it with a smile and with love. Tara very much acted her age, at times, but there were other times when her child at heart became bigger than life. Tara would want us to say, “I love you” to those we love. She would want us to say, “I’m sorry” when we’ve hurt someone. She would want us to act our age most of the time, but to find joy in the small things and to help people along the way. Tara left this world on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the age of 44, but her memory and legacy continue on. Tara is survived by: her parents: Jim and Beverly Glick; her brother, Kevin Glick; her uncle, John Easton whom she adored and idolized; her Grandfather Easton; cousins: Jamie, who recently reunited with Tara and brought so much joy to Tara, along with Rob and Rick. She is also survived by her precious animals: her dog, Jesse and cat, Abby. Tara was preceded in death by: her paternal grandparents; her maternal grandmother, Wanda; a great-grandmother, Edith Meadors and by two aunts.
