Shirley Ann Scianni's Obituary
Shirley Scianni Obituary
Shirley Scianni, a woman of unparalleled beauty and a heart as golden as her radiant smile, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love and grace. She was often likened to the timeless Ava Gardner, a comparison that never failed to delight her.
Shirley's vibrant spirit was infectious, and her lively personality left an indelible mark on all lucky enough to have shared in her joy. With a spunky, funny, and feisty demeanor, she had a knack for turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories, often punctuated by a mischievous wink from her sparkling eyes - her signature move.
A lover of life, Shirley found happiness in the simplest pleasures-parties, singing, travel, dining out, and the thrill of the casino. Her favorite pastime was indulging in movies, especially her favorite TV series, 'Blue Bloods'. It was later in life she found even more love and happiness with Al, both devoted to each other - and Notre Dame.
Shirley's career as a beautician brought joy to many through her skillful hairstyling and warm conversations. However, it was her dream role as the Senior Coordinator at Thornton Township that truly captured her heart. She dedicated herself to ensuring Seniors stayed active, organizing trips and activities that formed lasting friendships with those she served.
In the face of health challenges during her last year, Shirley approached life with courage and grace. While staying in rehab facilities, she became an angel in the eyes of the staff, their favorite patient whose caring nature and interest in their lives outshone any personal struggles.
Though Shirley never had children of her own, her love knew no bounds. Nieces and nephews, Jeff, Karl, Kimi, Linda, Val and Michael, held a special place in her heart. To them, she was "Kuma" and "Auntie," a guiding force and a source of boundless affection. This love extended seamlessly to her great nephews and nieces, her aunts, uncles, and many favorite cousins - creating a family tapestry woven with care and devotion.
Shirley always honored her parents, Frances and Angelo, selflessly caring for them in their home through sickness and health, always putting their needs first. Close-knit with her brothers and their spouses, Jim and Claudia, Mike and Karen, they enjoyed golfing and special evenings of togetherness. With so much time spent with her sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Karl, Shirley would find another loving home in Oklahoma with Cindy - her devoted partner-in-compassion. Their shared experiences became the chapters of a story written in love, laughter, and enduring bonds.
As we bid farewell to Shirley, let us not mourn the loss but celebrate the life of a woman who brought sunshine into our lives. Her laughter echoes in our memories, her generosity lingers in our hearts, and her twinkling eyes remain eternally imprinted on our souls. May she find peace, surrounded by the same warmth, and love she so freely shared with us all.
Until we're together again - remember, we will always love you.
