Shirley Joyce Herzfeld's Obituary
Shirley Joyce Herzfeld, 92, passed away on June 16th, 2026, in Tulsa, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Nola Fisher, and siblings, Carlene, Violet, and Helen.
She is survived by her children, Allen Bowen and his wife, Kathy, of Jenks, OK, and Sheila Pitto of Denver, CO; her grandchildren, Trey Bowen and his wife, Lacy, of Tulsa, OK, Bo Pitto and his wife, Meghan, of Vail, CO, and Rocky Pitto of Vail, CO; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and William Bowen and Fisher Pitto; her brother and sisters; nieces; and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
She grew up attending school in Mannford and later in Stillwater. She was married to Jimmie Bowen and remained connected to her church communities throughout her life, including Mannford Church of God and St. James Methodist Church.
At one point, she lived in an Airstream trailer and built a small cinder block building across a stream near old Keystone, where she opened one of her first businesses. Over the years, she owned Joyce's Beauty Shop and Joyce's Sportswear.
Some of her family's best memories were made on Keystone Lake, where she raised her kids and taught all of them - along with half their friends - how to ski. Later, when grandchildren came along, she was just as involved. She hosted summer pool parties and made her home a place where everyone felt welcome.
Every summer, her home was full of kids, grandkids, friends, laughter, and memories. Every winter, she loved traveling to Florida, where she made many lasting friendships. Christmas was especially meaningful to her, and she became famous for her large Christmas parties for family and friends. She loved decorating for the season and made sure every inch of her home reflected the joy she felt in bringing people together.
She loved to travel and spent many years flying to California to visit Sheila, Bo, and Rocky. At age 51, she learned to snow ski because she wanted to be able to ski with Bo in Vail.
She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother, sisters, nieces, and friends deeply. She knew all of her grandchildren and met her youngest great-grandchild, Fisher, in October, a memory the family will always treasure.
A service celebrating her life will be held on June 19th at 10 am at the Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service and Crematory at 13307 S Memorial Dr, Bixby, OK 74008.
