Shirley Lancaster Obituary
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Shirley Lancaster will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 in the River Crest Chapel, Bixby. Visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Friday at Bixby Funeral Service. Shirley passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in Broken Arrow. She was 83. Born July 13, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shirley was the first of seven children born to George and Phyllis (Brock) Neasby. Raised in the Bixby area, it was in Bixby that Shirley attended schools and became a high school graduate. Following high school, she attended a Catholic nursing school and made a move to California where she briefly worked in the healthcare industry. While in California, Shirley married which resulted in her becoming a mother to baby boy, Michael Lulka. Returning to Oklahoma, Shirley would find true love in Wayne Lancaster. The couple married in 1972 and made their home first in the country, but rather quickly settled inside the city limits of Broken Arrow so Shirley could stop breaking out with poison ivy!Through the years, Shirley was employed by Citizens Security Bank, Bixby and the Bixby Tag Agency. Once she stopped working, to be a homemaker, Shirley made it her job to be a coupon clipper - and many were the recipients of those prizes she claimed through her bargain hunting. Smart, kind, intelligent and loving were all words that described Shirley. She had a radiant smile that people loved, and she was often told how beautiful that smile was! Also, funny and witty - you best be careful to engage in any type of word war with Shirley as she was seldom defeated. Shirley loved her family more than anything - especially the children. She was described by those little ones as 'comfy' because she always welcomed them up in her lap where she could snuggle them in. Survived by: her siblings: sister, Patsy Fleetwood, brothers: Tom Neasby and Mike Neasby; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nieces including Sarah Berry and her family who have been amazing caregivers to Shirley over the past several years. She was preceded in death by: her parents: George and Phyllis Neasby; sisters: Jeri Kane, Phyllis Wagner and Ruth Helm; her son, Michael Lulka and her husband, Wayne Lancaster.Visitation Bixby Funeral Service 13307 S.
