Sharon Stewart Winkle's Obituary
Sharon Lee Stewart Winkle, 86, of Tulsa, passed away on April 11, 2026. She was born on August 16, 1939, in Independence, Missouri, to Roy Lee and Dorothy Bush Stewart. When Sharon was just seven months old, the family relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she would spend most of her life.
Sharon attended Tulsa Public Schools and graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1957. She went on to attend the University of Tulsa, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting - a remarkable achievement at a time when very few women pursued the field. She later obtained her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, a testament to her intellect and determination.
Following graduation, Sharon built a distinguished career, working at Warren Petroleum, Telex Computer Company, and Tyler Dawson. It was at Warren Petroleum that she met the love of her life, Donald Winkle. The two were married on May 9, 1972, and shared 38 wonderful years together until Donald's passing in October 2010.
Sharon also distinguished herself as an entrepreneur, operating a tag agency in Broken Arrow that was later relocated to Tulsa, where it became known as Midtown Tag Agency. In retirement, she delighted in tending her garden and gathered regularly with dear friends for games of bridge.
Sharon is survived by her sister, Patty, of Broken Arrow; her niece, Dana (Richard), and their two sons, Dean (Sarah) and Drew; her stepsons, Mike and Mark; and numerous cousins and extended family members who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Lee and Dorothy Bush Stewart, and her beloved husband, Donald Winkle.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Bixby Cemetery.
