Sharon Boles Obituary
A graveside ceremony honoring and remembering Sharon LeBourgeois Boles will be held at 1 PM Friday at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Thursday at Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service, 13307 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. Sharon passed away Wednesday morning, November 9, 2022, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was 72 years old.
Born March 3, 1950, in McAlester, Oklahoma, Sharon was the third of six children, the daughter of Lyle Hollis and Mary Jolene (Gray) Smoot. Raised mostly in Featherston, Sharon attended school in Quinton where she graduated high school with the Class of 1968. She was a tremendous athlete and basketball player, earning all-conference honors during her sophomore year.
While raising her young family, Sharon earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education from Northeastern State University. She married her beloved husband, Bert, on December 26, 1992. The couple spent nearly 30 wonderful years together owning a farm and enjoying each other’s time prior to Bert’s passing on August 31, 2022. Sharon loved to play Jacks and like everything she endeavored, she excelled!
Professionally, Sharon taught elementary school both in Norman and Mounds, Oklahoma. While in Norman, she served as Director of the CETA programs for Cleveland County. In her recreational time, she loved gardening, so much that her beautiful flowers once appeared on the cover of Southern Living Magazine.
Surviving family includes her son Henry LeBourgeois and his wife, Karen; her siblings, Larry Smoot and his wife, Connie; Sandra Redwine, Robert Redwine, Ronald Smoot and his wife, Kaye, and Fred Smoot and his wife, Karolyn; stepchildren, Charley (Chuck) Lee Boles II and wife, Karen, LeAnne Simas and her husband, Jim, and Jill Hamilton and her husband, Robert; 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bert Boles; daughter, Kimberly LeBourgeois, and her grandson, Jimmy Simas, Jr.
