Satwant Singh Bhinhar's Obituary
Satwant Singh Bhinhar, affectionately known as "Jimmy," passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. Born on January 1, 1939, in Mombasa, Kenya, Jimmy's formative years were filled with adventure, influenced by his father's role as a police chief and a rich cultural heritage.
Jimmy pursued higher education at the University of Oxford, where he earned a degree in Physics and Chemistry. His love for science was matched by a passion for speed; he became an accomplished automotive racer and served as a pilot in the Royal Air Force. His adventurous spirit also led him into the Kenyan wilderness, where he became a big game hunter,pursuing lions, rhinos, and other wildlife.
After relocating to New York, Jimmy raised two children while building his career. A move prompted by his wife's transfer to American Airlines brought the family to Tulsa, where he founded the Foreign Car Clinic, specializing in German and British automotive repair. His expertise and dedication earned him deep respect within the community.
Jimmy was actively involved with the Sikh Society of Northeast Oklahoma, maintaining a strong connection to his heritage and faith. He will be remembered for his vibrant personality, adventurous spirit, and unwavering commitment to his family and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Baljeet Bhinhar ; his children, Manpreet and her husband Gursewak Randhawa, and Harpreet and his wife Ashlee Bhinhar; grandchildren Mya Bhinhar, Jaden Bhinhar, Simran Randhawa, and Sharan Randhawa; his sister, Jeet Nahal; and his brother, Paramjit Bhinder, residing in London, England. Jimmy's presence will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will endure through his family and the many lives he touched.
