They were the first to welcome us to the neighborhood and a friendship started that day. We have prayed for each other through medical events and felt free to ask or offer help to each other. Sandi has been my sister-in-law since January, 1967. But, more importantly, she will forever be my “sister”. A true blessing to our family, in so many ways. Always there for everyone; but, never asking for anything in return. Dear Sandi,I will miss you. For all the times I failed to say thank you, THANK YOU! For all the times I left you without a hug, I’m sending along a basketful. I’ve never told you how much admiration I’ve had for your strength and endurance through your many challenges, so quietly lived; but, many others have heard so from me.Just one favor, please. The title, Air Force Wife, seems simple, but it comes with sacrifice and demands of being a full partner in the mission of defending the nation. Being a Wing Commander's wife came with even more demanding leadership challenges. Sandi was there for all the families all the time. She raised a family and helped raise the brand new AWACS Wing family. A real hero. I can't imagine anyone leaving this world with more love and respect from all who knew her.
Bert and I had the pleasure to know the Sterks in Germany and Oklahoma. I remember her as a warm, lovely lady. We are both so sorry to hear that she has left the world too soon. Our thoughts are with her family and sending prayers up for them durning this difficult time! May she rest in peace🙏🏻Sandy and Bert Otero (NJ)
