A funeral ceremony honoring and remembering Russell “Russ” Henry Allshouse will be held 1 PM Friday, December 16, in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. Viewing is scheduled from 7-8 PM Thursday at Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service. Russ passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 11, 2022 at his home in Coyle, Oklahoma. He was 85 years old.
Born August 13, 1937 in Trafford, Pennsylvania, Russ was the son of Henry Clark and Ethel M. (Lang) Allshouse. A train enthusiast from an early age, he grew up near the switching yard in Wall, Pennsylvania. His fascination with trains would continue throughout his lifetime.
Russ enlisted with the U.S. Navy at the age of seventeen. While serving as a mechanic on the U.S.S. Saratoga, Russ was initiated into the solemn mystic sciences of the Screaming Demon on the carrier’s canted deck April 5, 1958. Russ also worked with the Blue Angels and earned a multitude of recognitions throughout the aeronautical sector of the Navy.
Following his naval retirement, Russ was employed as a machinist in Tulsa for many years. A dedicated religious man in later years, he also worked as the church custodian for the First Baptist Church in Kellyville. Most recently, Russ attended the Coyle Christian Church.
Russ was a huge dog lover and could fix most anything. He enjoyed model trains and airplanes as well. Along with his wife, Bernice, Russ spent his retirement years traveling in the RV to destinations such as Florida, Canada, and multiple trips to Branson, Missouri.
Surviving family include his wife, Bernice Allshouse; and a host of children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
