Roy Lee Farley's Obituary
Roy Farley Obituary
A Celebration of Life will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at Bethany Church, Broken Arrow.
Born March 10, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Roy Farley was born to Roy Herschel Farley and Abbie Elizabeth (Fickett) Farley. Raised and educated in Tulsa, Roy would complete school at Thomas Edison. Upon graduation, Roy joined the United States Army in 1961 and received an honorable discharge in 1962, serving in the Army Reserve until 1967.
Roy would meet Janie Walker when asked by a friend to pick her up from school. This friend happened to be Janie’s boyfriend, but that would not last long. Roy told his friend that he thought Janie was a keeper, and he intended to do just that- keep her for himself. Following his time in the Army, Roy and Janie married on January 25, 1962, and they were able to celebrate 58 years of marriage. Through the years, the Farley family grew with the birth of two sons: Scott and Darren, and two granddaughters, Abbey and Emma.
Roy worked in the restaurant equipment business and had his own racing business, C&F Racing Equipment. Roy had a passion for racing and was quite good at it. “There’s a 20-year difference between Roy Farley’s ’37 Stovebolt and the ’57 hemi under its hood, but in spite of the “generation gap,” they go well together…138 mph in 10.20 seconds” this was a quote in the April 1969 Hotrod Magazine. Roy won 18 Super Eliminator contests last year and set a class record at the NHRA World Finals. Though C&F Racing Equipment was highly successful, Janie had a different idea and plan. This was the beginning of Farley Properties.
Farley Properties would build countless homes in the Tulsa area, and during the 80’s Roy, and much of his crew, moved to Georgia to build homes. Janie stayed in Tulsa and continued to run the operation locally. Roy also built many homes at Grand Lake, where he and Janie retired in 2010.
During retirement, Roy would enjoy fishing and hosting OU football parties. Roy and Janie were members of Bethany Church in Broken Arrow.
Hard-working, intelligent, and one who loved everybody are words that describe Roy. He passed from this life on June 8, 2021. He was 80.
Roy is survived by his sons: Dr. Scott Farley and wife, Kelley, and Darren Farley; granddaughters, Abbey and Emma Farley; brothers-in-law, Mike and DeWayne Walker and niece-in-law, Diane.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie; parents, and brother, Charles Farley.
