Ronald Montgomery Obituary
Ronald Eugene Montgomery was born July 22, 1944, in Berkeley, California to Edward Millard Lois Louise (Phillips) Montgomery. As a small child, Ron and his family moved to an 80-acre farm in Horntown and eventually purchased 40 additional acres. Ron attended school in Moss where he excelled as a baseball player. He would receive an athletic scholarship and continued his education at East Central University before graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Pharmacy. Upon graduation, Ron was drafted into U.S. Army where he served as a medic and pharmacist at Ft. Hood, TX. Once receiving his honorable discharge, he returned home to Wetumka and followed in his father’s footsteps by beginning his career as a boilermaker. Ron worked for the Union and traveled all over the United States. While enrolling his children in school, in 1989, Ron was introduced to Sherry Lea Mott. The two dated for a few years before marrying in a Tahoe, Nevada wedding ceremony. They made their home in Wetumka until 2002 when they moved to Collinsville. He also enjoyed trading and adding to his various collections: guns, coins, beanie babies, and baseball cards.
