Robert W Riddle's Obituary
Robert W. "Bob" Riddle was born on March 17, 1943, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to William Franklin and Beulah May (Ledford) Riddle. One of the six Riddle children, Bob was known for being a bit ornery and had a knack for instigating a little trouble now and then. In his younger years, he was always eager to tag along with his older brother and friends, which often led him into mischief. One memorable incident involved Bob chasing the boys across an iced-over Rush Creek. While the others made it safely across, Bob lagged behind and fell through the ice, finding himself in a dire situation. Thankfully, the boys managed to pull him out before it was too late.
Bob attended Pauls Valley Schools before being drafted into the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he found work as a produce manager at various supermarkets, including a stretch at Petty's Fine Foods.
A devoted family man, Bob was actively involved in his son's and grandsons' lives, always cheering them on in their activities. Bob had a passion for fishing but a deeper passion for OU football and could talk about it endlessly! On one notable road trip with a friend, the friend later remarked how amazed he was that Bob could talk about OU football for the entire journey.
In his later years, as a resident of Sand Plum Assisted Living in Bixby, Bob enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. It was not uncommon to hear people say, "Oh, I just love Bob." He was known for his thoughtful, comical, positive, and generous spirit. Despite any difficulties, Bob always remained optimistic. His kindness and infectious laugh were treasures that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bob passed away on August 25, 2024, at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Beulah Riddle, sister, Wanda Clayton and his son, Kevin Riddle.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Cindy Riddle; grandsons, Zach and Ethan Riddle; brother, Bill Riddle and his wife, Ottie; sisters, Mildred McBride and Shirley Ragland and her husband, Richard; brother, Jim Riddle and his wife, Janet; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He is also survived by the mother of his son Kevin, Kay Riddle Sneed, and her son, Scott.
