Robert Lynn Ravens' Obituary
Robert Lynn Ravens was born on April 30, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, to Glen Lee and Charlene (Peak) Ravens. His early years were spent in Dallas, but his father's career took the family to Newport, Tennessee, and then to Hickory, North Carolina. Rob developed a deep appreciation for the Smoky Mountain landscape before the family eventually settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Union High School and soon after entered the workforce.
Rob began his career at A-OK Filters, eventually launching his own filter business out of his garage-a venture that grew into a successful operation serving hospitals, doctors' offices, and members of the community. He took great pride in his work and was known for his dedication and determination. His business also became a longtime sponsor of the Tulsa Raceway, and Rob loved being part of the racing scene. A true sports fan, he especially enjoyed cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.
In 1981, Rob married Pamela, and together they welcomed a son, Andy. Rob found joy in being a father, and although life brought its challenges, he remained proud of his son.
Rob shared a unique bond with his father, often calling him "Emmit" as a term of endearment, a playful nickname that sparked smiles and laughs between them over the years.
Later in life, Rob became a familiar figure in his neighborhood, often seen riding his scooter, and keeping an eye out for the safety of neighborhood children. His acts of kindness, including handing out treats at Christmas, left an imprint on those around him.
Rob faced health struggles in recent years, but through it all, he carried a spirit that was uniquely his own. His journey with faith was personal and imperfect, as many are-but he knew the Lord. While Rob didn't always follow a traditional path, he lived life in the way he felt called to, and that life was marked by passion, resilience, and connection in the ways he knew how to offer it.
Robert passed from this life on April 2, 2025, at the age of 64.
He is survived by his parents, Glen and Charlene Ravens; his son, Andy Ravens and wife Allison; and his grandson, Dallas. He also leaves behind extended family and others whose lives he touched along the way.
In remembering Rob, may we honor not only the man he was but also the lessons we carry forward-from his strengths, his struggles, and the space in between. May peace and healing find all who loved him.
