Paul Freeman Obituary Services to honor and celebrate the life of Paul E. Freeman will be 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, November 19, 2018 at South Tulsa Baptist Church. Family will receive friends for visitation from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Bixby Funeral Service. Paul passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 in Tulsa. He was 68. Born August 14, 1950 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Paul E. Freeman, Jr. was the only child born to Paul E. Freeman, Sr. and Helen Grace (Hixson) Freeman. Raised and educated in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Paul enjoyed doing the things that most boys enjoy - like riding his bicycle and playing little league baseball. He also loved spending time with his grandparents.During high school, Paul served as Student Body Vice President at Southside High School. Upon graduation, Paul attended the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He graduated with a degree in Accounting and solidified his unending love of the Razorbacks! After graduation from college, Paul moved to Tulsa, OK to begin working for Skelly Oil Co and pursuing his CPA certification. In November of 1973, Paul began dating Becky Wiggins, also of Fort Smith. It must have been love at first sight! They became engaged within four months and tied the knot just three months later on June 29, 1974 in Ft. Smith. The couple then made their home in Tulsa and were active in the "young married" Sunday School class at First Baptist Church downtown. They later became charter members of South Tulsa Baptist Church. Through the years, Paul played church league softball and went with his team to national championships. Paul especially enjoyed the years he worked with the high school senior boys Sunday school class. Paul went on to have his own Certified Public Accounting practice and eventually worked as a controller for several Tulsa area businesses. He retired at age 62, due to increasing health issues. Paul loved being a husband to Becky and a father to Jill. He would have done anything to ensure their happiness. He was so proud of Jill and her accomplishments. She was always the apple of his eye.Paul loved family vacations to the beach and Disney World. However, Paul was most happy at home. He loved making his yard look beautiful and entertaining around the backyard pool. Paul delighted in firing up the grill to cook hamburgers and hotdogs for friends and family.Paul has been described as loyal. This loyalty could be found whether expressed to his family, his friends or his favorite sports teams. He often said whenever the Dallas Cowboys were on TV, he felt like it was his job to watch. Always a football fan, Paul followed Union Redskins football, and never missed cheering them on from his 50-yard line seats. For several years, Paul served as treasurer of the Tulsa Area Razorback Club. Paul was fun and was often referred to as the "fun Dad or fun Uncle." This was fitting, as he was crazy about his nephews and nieces. There is no doubt Paul enjoyed teasing others and has even been called a 'stinker' from time to time. He loved Shania Twain and his family will think of him whenever they hear one of her songs.Courageous and strong barely begin to describe Paul. For years, he has battled cancer, Parkinson's disease and the side effects of both. It was on Thursday, November 15, 2018 that God called Paul home, surrounded by his wife and daughter. He was 68.Paul accepted Jesus into his heart as an adult. It is because of his belief in his Lord and Savior that Paul's family is comforted in their loss.Paul is survived by: his loving wife of more than 44 years, Becky Freeman of the home; his daughter, Jill Freeman of Brooklyn, New York; a brother-in-law, Dean Wiggins and his children: Edye (Jim) Thornton, David (Angie) Wiggins, Steve (Misti) Wiggins along with numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.He was preceded in death by: his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law.Service South Tulsa Baptist Church 10310 S.
