Patricia Ann Purdy's Obituary
Patricia Ann "Pat" Purdy, 70, of Tulsa, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, October 30, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on July 23, 1955, in Tulsa, Pat was the beloved daughter of John Doyle and Esta Pearl (Dean) Newell. She graduated from Nathan Hale High School with the Class of 1973, where she worked at Casa Bonita and volunteered as a candy striper at Saint Francis Hospital. Pat went on to attend Oklahoma State University, where she studied French and participated in fencing.
She later had two daughters who became the light of her life and reason for her determination and hard work ethic which she instilled in them early. Her daughters remember her as a loving, caring, thoughtful Mother who loved to share laughter and make memories special. These special gestures would become even grander once she became a Nana. She loved going on vacations with her children and grandchildren, where she treasured every moment spent making memories together.
Pat built a distinguished career spanning the oil and gas industry and the banking sector. She worked for First Data and Shell Oil before joining the Bank of Oklahoma, where she served faithfully until her retirement in 2020. After retiring, Pat devoted her time to caring for her beloved grandchildren, creating countless cherished memories with them.
A woman of many talents and a generous heart, Pat was known for her love of baking and crafting. She was especially famous for her delicious cake pops, which brought joy to family and friends alike. She took pride in creating something special for events, birthday parties, weddings, & baby showers with her cake pops. She loved hearing the feedback about what a hit they were.
Pat loved going to craft shows, going on a local adventure to somewhere new, having a nice picnic, or taking a drive to the lake. She found peace working in her yard and tending to her garden and flowers. She valued her many friendships and was a friend who would always be there for you. She was a loving sister and aunt to her nieces. Someone we could all count on. She also adored her dog, Teddy, who was her constant and faithful companion.
Pat was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church on Harvard Avenue. She had enjoyed attending Life Church with her children and grandchildren in recent years.
Pat is survived by her two children, Lacey Purdy and Chelsey Mercer and her husband, Gary; three cherished grandchildren, Jaiden Purdy, Emma Ann Mercer, and Ezra Mercer; her sister, Connie Anderson and her husband, David; and her beloved nieces, Mindy Anderson (Mike) and son, Brady, and Christie Anderson Castell (Tim). She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pat was a truly remarkable woman-kind, selfless, and full of love. Her warmth, laughter, and gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
A funeral ceremony honoring Pat's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Rivercrest Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in the Parlor Room of the funeral home.
