Pamela Jean Hughey's Obituary
Pamela Jean Hughey passed away peacefully early Monday morning, November 24, 2025, at her home in Broken Arrow. She was 78 years old.
Born November 14, 1947, in Cushing, Oklahoma, Pam was the beloved daughter of Kenneth Rodgers and Ethel Rodgers. From an early age, she was a bright, artistic soul who found joy in choir, drama, and performing. In 1959, her family moved to Glenn Haven, Colorado, where her parents purchased the Glenn Haven Lodge. While there, Pam often sang for guests-so beautifully that one patron offered to fly her to Europe for professional voice training, and another offered her a placement with the Denver Philharmonic. Her parents, believing she was too young, declined the offers, but they remained a testament to her remarkable talent.
Pam adored the Colorado mountains, spending countless hours horseback riding and guiding tourists on scenic day trips through the breathtaking landscapes she loved. Later, after beginning her own family, she moved to Buena Vista, Colorado, where she helped her parents run their resort and riding stables. She continued to shine onstage during this time and toured locally as the lead singer of a country-western band.
In 1983, Pam returned to Chandler, Oklahoma, where she raised her younger children and helped her parents run Granny's Country Kitchen. It was during these years that she met the love of her life, Larry Hughey, while square dancing in Muskogee. They were married on April 23, 1998, beginning a devoted and deeply loving partnership.
Together with Larry and her daughter Teri Haynes, Pam opened Shiloh's Family Restaurant in Tulsa in June 2000. There, they shared generations of treasured family recipes and quickly became known for their homemade rolls with strawberry-rhubarb conserve. Many of their dishes earned awards, reflecting both Pam's creativity and her joy in serving others.
Pam was an extraordinary animal lover-gentle, nurturing, and endlessly compassionate. She cared for countless wounded or abandoned animals throughout her life, refusing to harm even the smallest creature. Her tenderness extended effortlessly to people as well; she was devoted to her children and grandchildren, always ensuring they were supported, cared for, and deeply loved.
A woman of steadfast faith, Pam was most recently affiliated with Sheridan Church in Tulsa. Musically and artistically gifted, she especially treasured praise and worship music.
Pam is survived by her loving husband, Larry; her children Teri Haynes (Derek), William R. Lawrence, Lori Nelson (Jim), Carolyn Andrew (Rick), and Linda Lawrence. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren-Matthew, Amber, Rachael, Christopher, Tyler, Liz, Christian, Majesta, Isaiah, Erica, and Ryan-and five great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Mark Rodgers (Anita).
She was preceded in death by her children Eric Beeks, Shanna Lawrence, and Larry Hughey Jr.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the funeral home. A funeral ceremony honoring Pam will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in the Rivercrest Chapel, followed by a luncheon in the Great Room. Interment will take place at 2:30 PM at Fort Gibson National Cemetery
