Services to celebrate and honor the life of Oliver Jesse Pacheco will be 6:00 pm Thursday, March 12, 2020 at HomeChurch, 720 W. New Orleans, Broken Arrow, OK 74011.Oliver Jesse Pacheco was born on August 13, 1962, in Santa Maria, California, to Oliver Joe Pacheco and Delores Juarez. Raised by a single mother, life had some challenges. At the age of seven, Oliver, his older brothers Vincent and Louis, and his younger sisters Diane and Yolanda were removed by the state and put into the foster care system. Sadly, they were separated into different foster care homes, except for Oliver and Diane, who were provided the opportunity to live together in a wonderful home with Dee and Dave Anderson. They had three children of their own, Marc, Roxanne, and Olivia and a foster child, Cyndi. Dee was an amazing woman who had a love for children, and she said Oliver had difficulty adjusting because of being separated from his siblings, but she showed great compassion and loved and nurtured him like he was her child, which shaped him into the man he became. His new father, Dave, was the 4H poultry leader and taught Oliver how to raise prize chickens and pigs, that won several awards. He also encouraged Oliver to play sports. Those two things gave Oliver better self-esteem and drew him closer to Dave. They also had twin boys, Chris and Clint, when Oliver was 13 years old, making a household of 8 wonderful children.At the age of 15, Dee and Dave divorced. Two years later is when Dee made a bold move and came to Oklahoma in 1980, with 6 of her children, to attend Rhema Bible College. Oliver’s older siblings, Marc and Olivia, stayed in California. She put Oliver in Faith Christian Academy, Pat and Buddy Harrison’s school, which he graduated from in 1981. That year his mom, Dee, took the kids to California for a vacation that lasted six weeks, and while there, she met a wonderful man by the name of Glen Goff. Despite the fact she had eight children and 6 of them teenagers, they married, and he moved to Oklahoma to join this wonderful family. Oliver followed in his mother’s footsteps and attended Rhema Bible College along with his new, wonderful dad Glen, and they both graduated from Rhema in 1984. While at Rhema, Oliver attended Grace Fellowship and taught Sunday School Class there. During that time, Oliver laid eyes on a beautiful, young girl, Lisa Johnston, who was a junior in High School and was attending Rhema youth group. The two immediately started dating and became smitten with one another. After a year of dating and right after Lisa graduated from Broken Arrow High school, they were married on June 10, 1983, by pastor Bob Yandian of Grace Fellowship Church. The young married couple worked two jobs each while Oliver attended his second year at Rhema. After Oliver graduated from Rhema in 1984, he and Lisa moved to Taos, New Mexico. They worked as youth pastors for David Huskey at Taos FourSquare Church. David Huskey was also a Rhema graduate. While there, Oliver was also employed by Frito Lay. Oliver and Lisa took a break from New Mexico and moved to Big Pine Key, FL in 1988, (near Key West). They felt called to help as youth pastors with Dee and Glen at a new church they were leading called Victory Christian Church. Their short time in the Keys was extra special with the birth of their daughter, Danielle, in 1989. The Pacheco family returned to Taos, where the family grew with the birth of another daughter, Brittney, in 1992. After more than ten years in Taos, the family moved to Middleburg, Florida, and enjoyed some quality family time together! The family made one last move in 1995, making the city of Broken Arrow their home. Here, their family became complete with the birth of their two sons, Nathan, in 2000, and Nick in 2002. In Tulsa, Oliver was employed by Coca-Cola for more than five years from 1995 to 2000. He started employment with Hiland Dairy, where he had a 20-year career. There was no doubt, Oliver was a loyal and dedicated employee. His co-workers, his customers, and everyone who came in contact with Oliver was all touched in a special way. Oliver always had a smile on his face, was happy and joyful, and loved to make people laugh. He brought joy to everyone. The Pacheco’s remained very active members at Grace Fellowship, where Oliver taught 5th and 6th graders in Route 56 and volunteered with Grace Youth on Wednesday nights. He then taught the elementary age kids for several years. His wife, Lisa, volunteered for years with the nursery and kids department. Oliver was active at Grace until last year when his illness kept him from serving in the ministry. He always has considered Homechurch his home.A great family man, Oliver, believed in always putting his family first! He was a loving and supportive dad and was involved in all of the activities his kids were in. He coached his kids' soccer for many years and was the assistant coach at BAYFA while Nick played football. He even volunteered his time helping the cheer team when Brittney was a cheerleader! Though Oliver was such a hard worker, Lisa made sure he took time off for fun! They’ve spent many weeks taking countless trips to Branson to go to Silver Dollar City, traveling to North Carolina to visit waterfalls, and many weekend trips to Spring Creek. They also took at least ten or more cruises over the years, where they enjoyed the beach, zip-lining, and snorkeling excursions. The family took several camping trips where they roughed it in tents and cooked marshmallows and hot dogs over the fire. Oliver loved telling stories around the fire, and his granddaughters would listen intensely to his every word. An avid San Francisco 49ers fan, Oliver never missed an opportunity to cheer (or yell) for his favorite team. Even though some of his brothers and nephews were divided on which team to cheer for, Oliver always was fun to watch the game with. Many Sunday afternoons were spent gathered together, cheering on their favorite teams. Oliver passed away on March 3, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family after 18 months with his battle with Esophageal cancer. Described as a compassionate, inspiring, and Godly man, Oliver is going to be greatly missed by those he leaves to cherish his memory. His life mirrored the image of Christ; many looked up to him as an example of what a Christian should be. He left behind a legacy. Kind and always loving, from the inside out, such a light and shining for Jesus always! You couldn’t know him for more than a minute to feel the love of Father God. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Lisa Jeanette Pacheco; two daughters, Danielle Waln and husband, Chadwyn and Brittney Tayrien and husband, David; two sons, Nathan and Nick Pacheco; two granddaughters, Trinity and Fiona Waln; father, Oliver Pacheco Sr. of Broken Arrow, OK, parents, Dee and Glen Goff of Ocala, FL, and Dave Anderson and wife, Michele of Fillmore, CA.; twelve Brothers and Sisters, Diane Mills and husband, Dwight of Middleburg, FL, Clint Anderson, Chris Anderson, Roxanne Mahan and husband, Mike, Cyndi Barber and husband, John, and Tiffany Murray of Broken Arrow, OK, Raphael Ben David(Marc) and wife, Avigail of Israel, Olivia Bennett and husband David of Raleigh, NC, Dustin Anderson and wife Stephanie of CA. Brothers and sisters, Louis Mendivil, Vincent Galindo, Loni(Yolanda) Mann and husband, Brad of California, Brothers and sisters-in-law, Laura White, Donald Johnston and wife, Angie, and Lynda Johnston of Bostic, NC, Richard Johnston and wife, Frances of Melbourne, FL Along with many many other aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces that he cherished greatly. They ALL looked up to him as a spiritual leader, some as a father figure, and as an example of how to walk the Christian walk.Oliver was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Juarez; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Terry and father-in-law, Donald Johnston, his Aunt Stella, Aunt Doris, Aunt Marilyn, Uncle Joe, and many others.
