Nelda Hulda Johnston's Obituary
Nelda Hulda Oestmann Johnston passed away into the arms of her loving Heavenly Father, at the age of 94 on September 6, 2024.
She was born on February 5,1930 on a farm near Avery, OK to Arthur Detrich Oestmann and Ida Lydia Wolff Oestmann.
She was baptized, confirmed, married, and now will be buried in the family cemetery at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Avery, OK.
She attended Happy Valley Grade School and Cushing High School, graduating in 1948.
She met the love of her life, Willard Thompson Johnston, and was married in 1948. They were married for 76 years. They had three children, Phillip Johnston of Ponca City, Mark Johnston of Tulsa, and Brian Johnston of Stroud.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Melvin Oestmann of Cushing, and Arthur Oestmann of Midland, TX.
She is survived by her husband of 76 years Willard, sons Phillip and wife Sharon, Mark and wife Cindy, and Brian and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was adored by her 6 grandchildren, 2 bonus grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
A viewing will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 10 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cushing, OK with a service following at 11 a.m. Burial immediately following at Immanuel Lutheran Church cemetery at Avery, OK. Lunch will follow at Redeemer Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Cushing, OK.
