Mounah Sami Jabara's Obituary
Mounah Jabara Obituary
Mounah Sami Jabara peacefully passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 16, 2018 at the age of 78 surrounded by his friends and family. He was born in Jdeidet Marjeyoun, Lebanon to Sami & Victoria (Farhood) Jabara. Mounah attended Ohio State University where he often relished being friends with Jack Nicklaus and meeting then President-Elect John F. Kennedy on campus. He returned to Lebanon and Saudi Arabia to work in hospital administration, and later married the love of his life, Haifa Nimeh in 1977. They had three children and enjoyed their lives in Lebanon, but due to the civil war, Mounah relocated his young family to Tulsa. They settled in Tulsa and built a life surrounded by an amazing community of family and friends which was evident anytime you would set foot in the Jabara house. Mounah loved to bring people together. It was common to hear the phrase "meet me at Mounah's". He loved playing cards, arguing over politics, keeping up with the news both here and in Lebanon, and showing off his beloved family tree (who hasn't seen that Jabara family tree?!). Mounah was an active member of St. Antony's Antiochian Orthodox Christian and often an honored guest at St. Theresa Maronite Church. Mounah was proceeded in death by his parents, and his beloved son Khalid Mounah Jabara, who was taken too soon. He is survived by his wife Haifa, daughter Victoria, son Rami and wife Jenna, grandchildren Layla and newborn Genevieve. He is also survived by his brother Issam Jabara of Beirut, nephew Dr. Sami Jabara, and niece Tania Jabara Valdez-Lora. Additionally, Mounah has a vast extended family of uncles, aunts, and cousins in the U.S. and around the world, all of whom he loved dearly and spoke to regularly. Mounah was generous; a fierce and loyal friend. He was great at building and maintaining friendships. He would do anything for his family and friends, and in return they would do anything for him. Even through a kidney transplant, he became close with his donor. And to this day, she is treasured family friend. He had a vivacious personality and always brought people of all backgrounds and ages together. In fact, several of his friends were decades younger than him - a true testament to his youthful spirit! A dynamic father, brother, uncle, friend, and "Jiddo" - he will be missed. We find peace knowing that he is together again with his son, Khalid. Memory eternal.Service Information:Saturday, October 20th, 2018St. Antony's Orthodox Christian Church2645 E. 6th St., Tulsa, OK 74104Visitation at 10amTrisagion and Funeral Service at 11am, immediately followed by The Meal of MercyMemorial contributions may be made in Mounah's honor to St. Antony's Orthodox Christian ChurchVisitation St. Antony Orthodox Christian Church 2645 East 6th Street Tulsa, Oklahoma 74104 10:00 AM - 11:00 AMTrisagion Prayers And Funeral St. Antony Orthodox Christian Church 2645 East 6th Street Tulsa, Oklahoma 74104 11:00 AM
