Michael "Mike" Charles Mankiller, born on November 2, 1965, in San Fernando, CA,peacefully departed from this world on February 20, 2024. He was the cherished son ofJanice Marie (Schomerus) and the late Joseph Michael Mankiller.
Born and raised in San Fernando, Mike graduated from James Monroe High School in1983, after which he bravely enlisted in the US Navy, Following an honorable discharge, Mike sought a new beginning and moved to Oklahoma, where he married Melissa Prince. Together, they welcomed their beloved children, Amanda and Clinton, and established their family home in Tulsa, OK After divorcing in 1998, Mike moved to Turley, Oklahoma where he made his home for 25 years during that time.
Mike's professional journey led him to become a skilled welder and machinist. His dedication was evident during his tenure at Flo-Bend and later at OK Machine, where he worked for a decade before retiring due to health complications.
Outside of work, Mike embraced life's joys, finding passion in midnight drags, horse races, bowling, golfing, working on cars and boxing and his love for his tv shows such as, The 5 and Hannity (boy, that would get him yelling.) He lived his life in the fast lane and was always running on "Indian time". However, his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family, especially his adored grandchildren - Olivia his oldest baby angel. Brylie his angel- his Brylie girl. Kayella his baby angel- his little chunk, Justin- his little dude and Adellayah.
Known for his strong work ethic, stubborn determination, and intelligence. Mike is survived by his loving children," In Mike's words- his saving grace, his shorty (Daughter) Amanda Dutton and husband (Justin) and son, "Meatball" Clinton Mankiller. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Janice Mankiller, brother Shane Mankiller, and lifelong partner Catherine Brown.
In addition to his father, Joseph Michael Mankiller, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Mankiller.
A celebration of Mike's life will take place on March 22, 2024, Friday at 1 pm at Rivercrest Chapel. The family invites friends, colleagues, and acquaintances to join them in honoring the memory of a beloved father, grandfather, partner, and friend. May he rest in eternal peace.
