Michael Lincks Obituary A funeral ceremony honoring and remembering Michael Lincks, Jr. will be held 11 AM Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the RiverCrest Chapel in Bixby. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 PM Sunday at Bixby Funeral Service. Mike passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at his home in Bixby. Mike was 72. Born January 13, 1948 in St. Louis, Mike was the son of Michael Sr. and Burnettie (Smith) Lincks. His mother was from Bixby and the family moved to Tulsa when Mike was 7 years old. He was part of a hard- working farming family and his upbringing was tough. As a result, he developed a strong will and tremendous character which made him a wonderful family man. Mike was a true German with a gentle, loving heart. Mike met Sue Pennington when they were in the 7th Grade. He attended the Roosevelt School and enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 17. Mike completed basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana and served his primary tour of duty in Germany. He was the crew chief for an engineering division responsible for building bridges. Mike was especially proud of his participation in the clean-up for the B-52 that went down in Polaris, Spain on January 17, 1966. Upon his return home, Mike and Sue began dating and married December 21, 1970 in a Baptist church in Carthage, Missouri. He started driving a truck to support his family in the early 70’s, driving for Hugh Breeding hauling jet fuel from coast to coast, as well as several trucking companies such as Turner Brothers and Keystone, servicing the oil industry. Mike got to see all 50 states as a truck driver and was also an owner-operator for several years. He always cherished his time at home with his family after spending so many long hours on the road. Parenthood brought out the best in Mike. It taught him a tremendous amount of patience. His children adored him, especially his grandchildren! He once said, “Don’t tell the kids but, I like the grandkids better!” Mike loved playing sports with them and taking camping trips to Grand Lake. Vacations were not a priority to Mike however, he did manage to take a few trips in the truck with the kids to California. Sue also loved to ride with him to Dallas, hitting the garage sales along the way. Together, Mike and Sue were huge St. Louis Cardinal fans. Those who knew Mike well considered him to be a walking encyclopedia. His travels instilled a great sense of direction and he was also quite the historian. Mike and Sue attended the Shellenbarger and Grace Freewill Baptist Churches. He loved his time driving the church bus through the years. Surviving family members include his wife of almost 50 years, Sue; his children: Angela Fletcher, Jimmy Lincks, Michelle Rhodes and husband, David; his grandchildren: Ashley, Wesley, Jody, Cody, Landon Michael, and Ava Sue; his brother, Charles Lincks and wife, Kathy, his sister, Susan Ryan, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
