Mari Jo Hendrix's Obituary
Mari Hendrix Obituary
A memorial ceremony honoring Mari Jo Hendrix will be held 2 PM Friday, October 28 in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. Mari passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 18, 2022 at her home in Broken Arrow. She was 69 years old.
Born July 8, 1953 in Midwest City, Mari was the daughter of John Hendrix and Betty Lou Humphrey-Hendrix. She was raised mostly in the Broken Arrow and Tulsa areas, graduating from Edison High School in 1971.
Mari worked a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime, mostly as a waitress in restaurants such as Enrique’s and Country Kitchen while living in Newkirk, as well as Duffy’s in Broken Arrow and Tally’s Diner in Tulsa. She was also employed by a collection agency with her daughter; and worked retail for Macy’s in Woodland Hill’s Mall.
Mari enjoyed plants, flowers, and putting her green thumb to work in her vegetable garden. So much so that she established a professional plant keeping business, serving numerous commercial businesses throughout the community. She was the kindest and most forgiving person you could ever know.
A wonderful mother, Mari always supported her children’s ambitions and was always there to talk them through anything. She was a terrific grandmother to her grandbabies as well. May her memory be eternal in the hearts of all who loved her.
Surviving family include her children, Bo Browning (Tiffany), Jane Bell (Jason), and Ben Hendrix (Alexis); her father, John J. Hendrix; her grandchildren, Kalisha Griggs, Chase Browning, Conor Reeves, Halle Reeves, Jacob Browning, Turner Reed, Logan DeLozier, Sidney McGinty, Caleb Bell, McKenzie Bell, Matthew Wagner, Fallon Hendrix, Olivia Hendrix, and Harris Hendrix; great grandchildren, Lucy McGinty and Oliver McGinty; two brothers, Jeff Hendrix and John David Hendrix (Melissa); niece, Athena Marie Hendrix and his nephews, John Jerald Hendrix (Jessica) and Marcus Hendrix.
Mari was preceded in death by her mother; baby sister, Dianna; and her nephew, Timothy Douglas Hendrix.
