Malinda Pilant Obituary
A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Malinda Mae Pilant will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 at Green Hill Cemetery, Sapulpa.Born March 29, 1928, at home in Bixby, Malinda was the daughter of Benjamin Harold and Eula Mae (Boggs) Willmot. At a young age, the Wilmot family moved to Sapulpa where Malinda attended school. It was in Sapulpa, that Malinda met and eventually married Granvil Pilant. The two shared vows in 1943 and then shared 57 years of life together until Granvil passed away. To support his new bride, Granvil began a career in the oil industry. The couple settled in Bristow, where they welcomed daughter, Sandra. A little more than six years later, they welcomed son, Sammy while living in Sapulpa. Eventually, Bixby would become home for the Pilant family and it was in Bixby where the children would attend school and where Sandra would become a Bixby high school graduate.Malinda would also attend school receiving her cosmetology license. Although she never worked in a salon, Malinda was happy to use her expertise on her family and close friends. Working outside the home, Malinda was employed by S.H. Kress & Co. where she devoted more than 18 years to the company before retiring. It would then be Granvil's career, with Sun Oil, that again moved he and Malinda. This time, the move was to the quaint, little community of Allen, Oklahoma where they both settled in just fine, made friends and enjoyed attending their church and other community events. It would be in Allen where son, Sammy would graduate high school.Upon retirement, Malinda and Granvil could be found frequenting blue grass festivals and they also took advantage of any available opportunity to travel. It would be through these adventures, that the two made many wonderful memories and, quite the accomplishment, managed to travel to each of the lower 48 states together. A lovely wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Malinda made quite an impact on the lives of those that she knew and loved, and she will be greatly missed. Malinda passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 in Jenks. She was 90. She leaves to carry on her legacy: her daughter, Sandra Ledford and husband, Lynn; son, Sammy Pilant and wife, Paula; three grandchildren: Lanette Sibley and husband, Andrew; Greg McLaughlin and wife, Pam; and Stephen Pilant and wife, Brandy; nine great grandchildren and sisters: Helen Lang and Barbara Tinker. Malinda was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Granvil Pilant; parents, Benjamin and Eula Mae Willmot; and a sister, Wanda Bevenue.Service Green Hill Cemetery 400 E. Teel Rd.
