Loretta Boyles Moody's Obituary
Loretta Moody Obituary
Born April 30, 1937, in Mounds, Oklahoma, Loretta was the daughter of Raymond and Vera Boyles. Loretta attended Sapulpa High School and was valedictorian of her 1954 graduating class - graduating at the age of 17.
As a career, Loretta served as an administrative assistant for Amerada Hess, Gulf Oil, Warren Petroleum, Cities Service and Citgo. Through the years, Loretta was known to be an extremely hard worker. Those she worked with often said she could accomplish the work of 2-3 people!
She retired from Citgo in 1991.
Married to William McKinnley Eubanks (“Mack”), on August 17, 1956, this union welcomed four children: Macki, Richard, Lori, and Melissa (Missy). Loretta was able to serve and manage her household, by cooking, sewing, cleaning, canning, gardening, driving kids to activities, and coaching soccer, all while maintaining her job as an administrative assistant. She was always busy, going nonstop from sunup to sundown!
Known to find enjoyment in doing things her own way, Loretta was constantly busy. She was hard-working and dedicated - having essentially been a single mother throughout much of life. While Mack was busy with horses and friends, she took care of the house and kids. She sewed out of necessity in early years, to make sure her family had dresses and clothes for Sunday church, but in later years this gift became a hobby. One of which she was extremely talented in and one she will be remembered for. She loved entering her dolls and quilts at the Tulsa Fair and won many blue ribbons. Life was a competition for Loretta. It was never enough to just do or even to do well. No, she had to do things the BEST! She was devoted to her kids, making sure each one received a college education. She coached soccer, hosted slumber parties, went to basketball, football, and soccer games, played taxi driver so that her kids could participate in sports and social activities, etc. Once they all graduated from high school, only then did she find time for herself and remarry.
On March 8, 1991, Loretta married John Moody. John and Loretta lived on a 40-acre ranch in Claremore, OK where they raised cattle. In retirement, Loretta enjoyed working on the ranch and there was not a job she did not do. She even learned to weld so she could maintain fences. When they needed to diversify the herd, she learned to artificially inseminate cows. Other hobbies and activities she enjoyed included: gardening, quilting, crocheting, making porcelain dolls, canning salsa, green beans and homemade jelly and cooking. Indeed, everyone misses her cinnamon rolls, strawberry pie, dumplings, dressing, cookies, sausage balls, and many other baked goods we came to know as a staple!
Travel also brought Loretta joy. A favorite stop was Santa Fe, New Mexico. She and John would drive there every chance they got just so that she could explore the shops of handmade jewelry, clothing, art, etc. She also enjoyed salmon and halibut fishing in Alaska and visiting the Grand Tetons.
Loretta was private, but strong in her faith. She raised her kids to know God and to prioritize public worship. It felt as though Loretta, and family, were in church whenever the doors were open, (i.e. Sunday mornings and evenings, Wednesday evenings, potlucks, revivals, etc…) Her life and love taught and showed God’s grace, mercy, and never-ending love. Although she did not speak often of her faith, she reflected God in her joy, her smile, integrity, humility and determination. She was a lover of old hymns and had a beautiful singing voice. She was often asked to sing at weddings and funerals in the churches she attended.
Loretta will be most remembered for: her competitiveness, work ethic, strong will, intelligence, creativity and talent. Loretta passed from this life on October 2, 2022. She was 85.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Raymond Boyles; her mother, Vera Boyles; her daughter, Macki Moody and by her husband, John Moody.
