Services to honor and celebrate the life of Lisa Bolton are 2:00 pm Friday, August 30, 2019 at Evergreen Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Bixby Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday at RiverCrest Chapel.
Born November 13, 1965, in Dumas, Texas, Lisa was the daughter of Jerral and Carol (McElhaney) Barnes. Carol described Lisa as a compliant, sweet and loving little girl. At the age of three, Lisa’s family moved to Duncan, Oklahoma. She attended school in Comanche and became very involved in Future Homemakers of America (FHA), 4-H Club, as well as Future Farmers of America (FFA) where she showed prize-winning sheep. She graduated from Comanche High School with the Class of 1984.
Upon graduation, Lisa moved to Tulsa and was employed with Family Med in Broken Arrow. Through a co-worker, she was introduced to Keith Bolton. Keith, being a handyman, said Lisa would often call seeking help with car troubles. After dating for more than a year, and a casual proposal of “so, do you want to get married?”, Lisa and Keith were married on October 6, 1989. Lisa, already a mother to Dustin, would welcome daughters, Samantha and Brooklyne and son, Ethan.
The Bolton family did nearly everything together. Almost every Saturday night, the family was at the racetrack watching Keith. They also enjoyed going camping: where they would swim, bike, and have cookouts. As the kids grew older, most nights and weekends were spent at football, baseball, and softball games. Lisa proudly earned the title of “Snack Mom” and was also prepared with her on-the-go medical bag.
Lisa looked for any excuse she could find to spoil her children. Her kids were her entire life and their happiness was most important to her. She would take the kids on “dinner dates”, their choice, and enjoy their time, just one-on-one. Many of these date nights ended with a long drive to the lake or nature park, looking for deer. Lisa enjoyed trying exotic foods, but always returned to her favorite spots, Osaka and Arizona Mexican Restaurant. In addition, she and her kids enjoyed going shopping together. Blessed with many of their mom’s traits- Samantha is a natural mini-me, very maternal and protective of her family; Brooklyne’s personality is infectious, gravitating others to her and ensuring a good time; Ethan has a great sense of fashion, likes shopping, and trying unique foods.
Lisa was employed as a Medical Administrator by Hillcrest Hospital, Utica Park Clinic for more than 23 years. She was loved, admired and respected by all her colleagues and doctors. She valued every person she met and had a way of making others feel special and important. Lisa was a great listener, and many felt comfortable sharing with her the challenges they were facing.
Despite many health problems throughout her life, Lisa was a fighter and always overcame the odds. Even with her diagnosis of cancer 13 months ago, she was concerned only for her children and how they would do life without her. Lisa wanted her illness to be used for the greater good. She was determined to help as many people as possible going through similar circumstances.
Lisa was a faithful member of Life.Church in Broken Arrow where she especially loved connecting with her Life Group. They were a constant source of strength, prayer, and encouragement to her through the very end of her life. She was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 28, 2019, fighting the good fight and finishing her course.
Described as a fighter, selfless, thoughtful, loving, tender, feisty, supportive, faithful, and inspiring, Lisa will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory are her loving children: Dustin Andrew, Samantha Kyle, Brooklyne Alexandria, and Ethan Cale; mother, Carol Jones; former husband, Keith Bolton and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerral Barnes; stepfather, Alvin Jones; maternal grandparents, Chester, and Nellie McElhaney; paternal grandparents, L.B. and Virgie Barnes; niece, McKenn Schneider and cousins, Patrick and Kelly Edison.
