Lillian Leona Edmonson's Obituary
Lillian Leona Edmonson, 95, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, June 25, 2025, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
Born March 5, 1930, in Deport, Texas, Lillian was the daughter of Bruce and Alice Pearl Evans. She grew up in an agricultural family, moving between Deport and Detroit, Texas, where she attended school and learned the values of hard work and family devotion that would guide her throughout her life.
Lillian met Granville Edmonson in Blossom, Texas, his hometown, and they were united in marriage on April 20, 1946, in Blossom. In 1953, the young couple moved to the Tulsa area where Granville found work at Oklahoma Steel Castings, Co. They made their home in Leonard, where they would raise their family and build their life together.
A devoted wife and mother, Lillian worked as a cook for Leonard School and later at Leonard Mountain Trading Company, packing and assembling products as needed. However, she always prioritized staying home as much as possible to care for her beloved family. Known for her quiet, compassionate, and loving nature, Lillian led a simple life anchored by her strong faith.
Lillian found joy in the traditional arts of homemaking-sewing clothing, quilting, and canning. She like to dance and was known for the Jitterbug. She was also known for her practical approach to maintaining their acreage in Leonard, where she would burn tree limbs and tend to the property with characteristic determination.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Granville, her parents Bruce and Alice Pearl Evans, daughters Sherrell Reed and Lanette Miller, sisters Irene and Edna, and brother Edward.
Lillian is survived by her three children: Mike Edmonson and his wife Carol, Sue Madland, and Tracy Stevenson; her grandsons Christopher Humphrey and his wife Shiela, Jeremy Edmonson and his wife Jennifer, and Johnny J. Reed and his wife Crystal; and three cherished great-grandchildren, Stryker, Chance and Jordan.
Lillian's legacy lives on through the family she loved so deeply and the quiet strength and faith she demonstrated throughout her 95 years of life.
