LEona May Sahlsten Born February 11, 1979, in Bevard, North Carolina, LEona was the daughter of Darrell and Jane (Poudrier) Buchanan. She would later welcome a younger brother, Darrell, Jr. The majority of LEona’s lifetime would be spent in the Fitchburg, Massachusetts area. There, she attended area schools and received her degree as a certified nurse’s aide. More recently, she co-owned a trucking business with her husband, Pete Sahlsten. Through the years, LEona would participate in and volunteer her time as a leader in vocal and choir programs. In her spare time, she loved to fish, watch baseball, and spend time with her family and friends. Upbeat, silly, friendly, and loving are words used to describe LEona. She loved her grandchildren more than anything and she will certainly be missed by those who knew and loved her. Survived by: her husband, Pete Sahlsten; her children: Brittany Phaneuf, Chellsy Phaneuf, Kyle Phaneuf, step-son, Christopher Thaneuf; her grandchildren: Adrian Espinal-Phaneuf, Leandro Arantes, Laurabella Arantes and Carter Dwayne Phaneuf; her parents: Darrell and Jane Buchanan; her brother, Darrell Buchanan, Jr. along with numerous other family and friends.
