Larry Anthony Laster's Obituary
Larry Anthony Laster, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, October 11, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on March 3, 1941, in Little Rock, to Robert and Frances Modisette Laster, Larry grew up with a love for basketball, which he played throughout his youth.
Larry attended San Jose State University, where he studied engineering, and later pursued graduate studies in Southern California. His career in the airline industry began during his time there, eventually leading him to relocate to Tulsa at the age of 28. Larry joined American Airlines, where he worked for 31 years, retiring as Vice President of Base Maintenance. His dedication to the industry was matched only by his passion for the people he worked with.
It was in Tulsa that Larry met the love of his life, Linda, and together they enjoyed nearly 45 years of marriage. They shared many adventures, most notably on the golf course, where Larry was an avid player. Though proud of his four hole-in-ones, he delighted in the fact that Linda had one more than him with her five.
When not on the golf course, Larry could often be found reading or spending time at his second home in Palm Springs, where he and Linda enjoyed their retirement and many rounds of golf.
Larry's greatest pride, however, was his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children: Jimmie and wife Sondra, David, Rob and wife Gayle, Mark and wife Shelly, and Michael and wife Heather; 11 grandchildren: Conner, Grant, James, Jordan, Jax, Kaylee, Lucy, Courtney, Jonathan, Annie, and Eden; and one great-grandson, Colton. Larry also leaves behind his sister, Karen and her husband Jeff, and his brother, Charles and his wife Cheryl.
