Larry Louis Burnworth's Obituary
Larry "Burny" Burnworth passed away August 16, 2025, at University Village Senior Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by his daughters. Larry was born on August 7, 1937, in Gary, Indiana, to Earl and Edith Burnworth. He graduated from Lockport High School in Lockport, Illinois, in 1956. He enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he served for four years, becoming a communications specialist and being awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
He married Bonnie Brands on February 3, 1962, and they had three daughters: Lynn, Mary, and Connie. They spent the first few years in Illinois before moving to Doniphan, Nebraska, where he spent the next sixteen years involved in his daughters' activities. He also spent many years as a member of the volunteer fire department and the Lions Club, where he served as president. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Larry worked in communications for forty years, and it was that work that took him to Wichita, Kansas; Kearney, Missouri; and eventually Barnesville, Minnesota, where he retired. He was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life.
On June 23, 1993, he married Dona Allen. He and Dona spent much of their retirement traveling, spending winters in McAllen, Texas, and summers in Glen Elder, Kansas, before making Glen Elder their permanent home.
In Burny's 88 years, he never met a stranger and made lifelong friendships along all their stops.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Edith Burnworth; brothers, James and Bobby; his wife, Dona; and stepdaughter, Connie Allen.
He is survived by daughters: Lynn (Tom) Leach of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mary (Bob) Doerr of Forsyth, Missouri, and Connie (Zane) Mason of Decatur, Texas; stepdaughter, Linda (Warren) Dallyn of Chauvin, Alberta, Canada; grandchildren: Justin (Fay) Mason, Melissa Seabolt, Robert Leach, Mitchell Lang, Megan Allen, Johnathan Dallyn, and Jeff (Kelsie) Dallyn; great-grandchildren: Sloan, Hank, and Emmitt Mason, Tyler Seabolt, Erin and Jamey Leach, Brenna and Brecklyn Lang, Kaycee Corb, and Reece Dallyn.
