Koy Rice's Obituary
Koy Ray Rice was born on February 19, 1967, in Plainview, Texas to Mack and Barbara (Whitten) Rice. He was welcomed into the world by his older sister, Ricci, and raised in the beautiful mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico, where he learned to snow ski and even competed on a ski team-until an injury sidelined his slopeside adventures.
His early years were shaped by the family's ownership of several steakhouses, which likely sparked his lifelong love for cooking out. Koy moved back to Plainview, Texas, where attended high school and spent most of his life with friends and family.
Koy owned a steakhouse himself and eventually worked as a long-haul truck driver before transitioning to short-haul delivery of building materials. He took an early retirement and devoted his time to caring for his mother during her final years-a role he embraced with great love and compassion.
Koy was known for his fun-loving, social nature and booming personality. He had a sharp wit, a boisterous laugh, and more than a few legendary "Koy-isms" that his family will continue to share with a smile. He was a nickname connoisseur, giving each person in his family a special name that they will always remember.
He was a self-proclaimed ladies' man-with four marriages to support the claim (Susie Q, Jeanine, Laury and Michelle)-Koy lived life on his own terms.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, and, of course, grilling out. Chicken-fried steak was a favorite, though nothing ever quite topped his love for a strong cup of coffee.
Koy passed away on March 28, 2025, in Tulsa at the age of 58. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ricci Rice-Stokes.
He is survived by: his children: daughter, Mackenzie Rice and wife, Rachel; son, Dylan Rice; and daughter, Caitlyn Rice. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Mackayla Rice, Ethan Griffin, and Emily Griffin; his niece, Randi McQuagge; and his uncle, Donnie Davis.
Koy boy's stories, humor, and heart will live on in the memories of those who knew and loved him. As he would always say, "you are stuck like Chuck with me...Boom Chaka Laka".
