Kenneth Young Obituary
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Kenneth Michael Young will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 in the RiverCrest Chapel and Event Center, 13329 S. Memorial Dr., Bixby, OK. Family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday evening, February 18, 2022 also at RiverCrest. Kenneth passed from this life on February 14, 2022. He was 30.
From the moment Kenneth Michael Young came into this world, on October 5, 1991, he was running full speed ahead! He was the baby of three children, and the only boy, born to James and Maria (Gallegos) Young. Kenneth would make life much more interesting and entertaining for his two sisters: Jennifer and Candice.
Raised in his birth community of Tulsa, Kenneth would attend Tulsa Union High School. He would play organized basketball and even ran cross-country for a season, arguably to be more like his sister, but Kenneth seemed to gravitate more to extreme sports, such as: snowboarding, skating, skiing, wakeboarding, riding his dirt bike and off-roading. It seemed the only thing that slowed him down, although only temporarily, was tearing his ACL, not only once, but twice.
When he wasn’t doing one of the aforementioned activities, Kenneth could be found playing golf, frisbee golf or marching to the beat of his own drum whether he was singing, dancing, or playing an instrument. He was pretty legendary, even if only to his family and friends, when he picked up and played the saxophone, guitar, drums, and especially when he performed live on the karaoke stage.
Life of the party is one way to describe Kenneth. He was also goofy, creative, witty, hilarious, loveable, thoughtful, caring, resilient, and compassionate. Indeed, Kenneth lit up each and every room he entered. In fact, if you were around Kenneth, for long, you were guaranteed to be having a good day! He could quickly make you smile or laugh and enjoyed sharing his latest stylish finds with anyone who would take a look. He was always up for wearing a costume and had a wardrobe ready for almost any occasion. He even enjoyed dressing his trusty four-legged friend, Beau, the black lab, up in costume. Kenneth was also known to be a good cook and was a wonderful bartender - who served up a lot of charisma with his drinks.
Loved by so many, Kenneth will surely be missed. There will now be fewer movies quoted, t-shirts, and hats sold, and adult onesies worn. (Which may not be that bad?) In addition, the OU football program and the Dallas Cowboys have certainly lost a big fan. Along with this, Kenneth’s dad, James, will miss their game day talks. Kenneth’s mom, Maria, will miss their shopping trips where Kenneth was sure to get exactly what he wanted on mom’s dime.
Kenneth may have had a difficult time showing or letting others know just how much he cared for them, but there is no doubt, he loved ‘his people’ with his whole heart! At least they were a close second to the way he cared for his beloved Jeep, Betty White.
It will now be up to Kenneth’s family and friends to carry on his legacy of bending the rules and making the best of the life we’ve all been given.
Kenneth is survived by: his parents: James and Maria Young; his sisters: Jennifer Ferrell and her husband, Travis and Candice Featherston and her husband, Ches; nephew, Tomas Ferrell; maternal grandparents: Alberto and Estela Gallegos; the love of his life, Courtney Grinter and by his trusted companion, Beau. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his paternal grandparents: Ralph and Mary Young; an uncle, Ruben Young and an aunt, Lety Abogado.
