Karla Wilson Obituary A memorial service to celebrate the life of Karla Wilson will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2020, at RiverCrest Chapel and Event Center in Bixby, Oklahoma. Karla passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at her home in Glenpool. She was 59 years old and was married to the love of her life, Don Wilson. On January 5, 1961, Karla Kaye Mitchell was the middle of three children born in Buffalo, Oklahoma, to Bud and Reecia (Whittington) Mitchell. Growing up in Chickasha, Oklahoma, it was there that Karla attended school and became a high school graduate. Following high school, Karla studied engineering at the University of Oklahoma. She found employment as a draftsman working for the Williams Company in Tulsa, and later for the surveying company Harden and Associates. There came the point in time when Karla put down her drafting pen and traded it for a set of grooming shears. This change allowed Karla to pursue her passion for loving animals while continuing to bring a little money home. Karla eventually took over the non-profit German Shepherd Rescue of Tulsa. At GSR, she made many, many friends while helping rescued dogs find their fur-ever home. Karla’s other passions and hobbies included shopping, getting her nails done, acquiring her collection of Rustic Cuff jewelry, and of course, rescuing German Shepherds. Karla is described by others as generous and giving. She was a woman who loved her family above all else and always looked forward to getting them all together. Karla always looked forward to her family’s yearly fish trip to Flippin, Arkansas, with family. Preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, James, Karla is survived by her loving husband, Donald Wilson; children: Chelsea Wilson, Diana Howe, Kristina Wilson, Whitney Winfield, Mitchell Points, and Echo Wilson; grandchildren: Hunter, Gauge, Zander, Ker’ron, Gabby, Lili, Jaylen, Nariyah, Gavin and Ronin and by her younger brother, Bart Mitchell.
