Karen Gail Sellers, age 67, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 13, 2023, in Claremore, Oklahoma. A celebration of her life will be scheduled following the holiday season.
Born as the third of four children and the beloved daughter of Coach Jim and Nita Sellers, Karen embodied a spirit of adventure and an unwavering love for life. Graduating from Nathan Hale High School with the Class of 1974, she left an indelible mark on those around her, always making friends easily with her warm and welcoming demeanor.
Karen had an insatiable curiosity and was known for being a magnificent writer and storyteller. Her interests spanned a wide spectrum, reflecting a life rich in experiences. She loved traveling around the country, with a special fondness for the landscapes of Colorado and New Mexico.
Throughout her diverse career, Karen worked as a waitress, a talented bartender, and a discerning wine connoisseur. Her culinary passion extended to fine dining, where she found joy in savoring the finer things in life. Additionally, she dedicated her time and skills as an EMT at Hillcrest Medical Center, demonstrating a commitment to helping others in times of need.
Karen was a force to be reckoned with, known for her love of a good argument and her ability to engage in lively discussions. Her passion for animals, particularly her cherished cats, and her dogs, Scout and Bailey, added a layer of warmth and compassion to her character.
Karen is survived by her siblings: Sonnie Wright and husband, Richard; Terri Homsey; and Dr. Joel Sellers and wife, Lori. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
