Judy Junell's Obituary
Judy Junell Obituary
Born February 11, 1952, in Altus, Oklahoma, Judy was the first child, and only daughter, born to Jess and Alma (Sanders) Harris. Raised in her birth community, Judy embraced an early love of reading, writing, and playing the piano. She would also enjoy the role of proud, big sister to brother, Terry. Following high school, Judy met the love of her life Thomas Junell. The two married and relocated to Okmulgee where Thomas attended Okmulgee Technical School. Being a homemaker was Judy’s passion and full-time job! She was certainly a wonderful wife and mother. She made sure that breakfast always ready and that the shower water was already hot when she awoke her daughter, Amy, before school. When she found spare time, Judy could be found gardening or crafting – woodburning and cross stitching being some of her favorites. She was also heavily involved in her church. Through the years Sundays became both a day of worship and a day to soak up family time and build lasting memories. This only got sweeter with the addition of grandchildren and changed Judy’s world!Eventually, Judy and Thomas moved to the Bixby/Broken Arrow area to be closer to family. During this time, she continued to bask in her grandchildren and later added a few puppies to her mix. Those furry family members brought her so much joy and companionship!Described as a woman who was thoughtful, caring, loving, and sweet, Judy could and would talk to ANYONE and, as a result, easily made friends. She could also easily adapt to most situations and joined right into whatever was going on!The kitchen was always a favorite spot for Judy and there is no doubt that she had the secret for THE BEST potato salad. Her biscuits and gravy were quite notable as well. Judy will be deeply missed. Although she had been battling dementia, the timing of her passing was unexpected and is difficult on her loved ones. Judy passed from this life on Monday, December 5, 2022 in Tulsa. She was 70. She was preceded in death by: her parents and her husband, Thomas Junell (2013). She is survived by: her daughter, Amy VanTuyl and husband, Scott; her grandchildren: Danielle and Lincoln VanTuyl and by her brother, Terry Harris and his family: wife, Pam; daughter, Melissa and grandson, Marion.
