Judith Mae Humphries' Obituary
Judith Humphries Obituary
Judith Mae Humphries, born May 22, 1940, in Hartley, Iowa, to Everett Heuer and Freda Heuer, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, at the age of 83. She was raised and educated in Hartley, graduating from Hartley High School in 1959.
In 1960, Judy married the love of her life, David Humphries, in Denver, Colorado, after a four-month, whirlwind romance that began while pursuing higher education. Together, they embarked on a journey that took them across the United States as David served in the Army. Their adventures led them to Vashon Island, Washington, and Fairbanks, Alaska, before settling in Grand Junction, Colorado, where they raised their daughters, Jennifer and Kathleen.
Judy was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a talented artist, specializing in oil and watercolor. Her artistic talents garnered recognition throughout Western Colorado, with numerous awards from various art shows. She shared her passion by teaching art lessons at the Grand Junction Art Center and displaying her work at the Main Street Gallery in Cedaredge, Colorado.
After David's retirement in 1998, Judy and David embarked on a new adventure, traveling extensively in their RV. They spent much of their time visiting their daughters in Texas and Arizona before settling in Oklahoma in 2008. Together, they cultivated a beautiful garden and were active in their neighborhood, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Judy's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, whom she cherished dearly. Judy will be remembered for her encouraging spirit, unwavering support, and positive outlook on life.
Among her simple pleasures, Judy enjoyed her morning Starbucks coffee, a ritual that brought her joy.
A celebration of Judy's life is being planned by her family, with details of the Colorado service to be announced.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jennifer Nordhausen and husband, Craig, and Kathy Fronczak and husband, John; grandchildren, Tyler Nordhausen and wife, Kristin, Gage Fronczak and wife, Vanessa, Alex Nordhausen and wife, Joy, Payton Fronczak and fiancé, Daniel, Macie Nordhausen, Brock Fronczak, and Chloe Nordhausen; great grandchildren, Milo, Cassius and a great granddaughter on the way. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Heetland and Beverly Skinner.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Freda Heuer; husband, David Humphries; and sister, Irene Polson.
