Shawnee, OK - John Alden Fred, Sr., a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and hardworking farmer, passed away on November 25, 2023, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 74. Born on August 1, 1949, in Littlefield, Texas, John was the son of A. P. And Gertrude FredJohn was preceded in death by his parents, A.P. and Gertrude Fred, and his brothers, Durwood Fred, Rickey Fred. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Fred, with whom he shared a life full of love and commitment. John is also survived by his three children: John Fred and wife Enevelia, Rocky Fred and wife M'lissa, and Marti Smith and husband Stacy. His legacy extends through his grandsons: Darren Fred and wife Jenna, Tyler Smith and wife Jina, Trae Smith, Lance Smith, Ryan Fred and Molly Rusk, Triston Fred, Michael and Aaron Hester, and his sister Phyllis Greer.Additionally, he is remembered by his great-grandchildren, Alden Fred and Jackson Fred.John graduated from Bula High School in 1967 and embarked on a lifelong journey as a farmer in Morton, Texas. His unwavering dedication to the land and his craft defined him as a hard worker and provider for his family. Alongside his brothers, John engaged in custom harvesting in South Texas during the summers, leaving an indelible mark on the agricultural landscape.On March 8, 1969, John married the love of hislife, Linda McCamish, and together they built a life centered around family, laughter, and shared moments. His role as a husband, father, and grandfather was characterized by his love, care, and the joy he brought to those around him.Described by friends and family as a great teacher, John had a unique ability to impart wisdom, making a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. His sense of humor made him the heart of family gatherings, and his laughter will be remembered by all who were touched by his presence.John Alden Fred, Sr. leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and laughter. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he touched during his remarkable journey through life.
