In Loving Memory of Joe Frank Stie
Joe Frank Stie of Jenks, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at the age of 91, surrounded by his devoted family. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Joe's life was one marked by service, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for nature.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Myrtle Stie of Jenks; sons, Joe Russ Stie and wife Stephanie of Jenks, and Frank Alan Stie and wife Kelly of Sapulpa; grandchildren, Brittany Stie-Dennis and husband Austin of Sapulpa, Dylan Stie of Sapulpa, Joe Thomas Stie and wife Rachel of Broken Arrow, Taylor Stie of Tulsa, and Tanner Stie of Tulsa; and one cherished great-grandson, Layton Austin Dennis of Sapulpa.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lottie Stie of Mill Creek; six sisters: Bernice Wagner, Dorothy Covington, Martha Wilkerson, Marla "Sissy" Stie, Tookie Little, and Shorty Stie; and nephew, Larry Moss.
A proud veteran, Joe honorably served in the United States Air Force. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, and later completed his Master's degree at Radford University in Radford, Virginia. Joe's life and career were deeply rooted in science and a passion for the natural world.
An avid outdoorsman, Joe was known for his skill in topwater bass fishing, with favorite fishing destinations spanning Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alaska, Virginia, and Colorado. His hunting adventures were just as impressive-pursuing white-tailed deer, wild hogs, quail, and wild turkeys. Among his many accomplishments, he proudly harvested a record-book white-tailed deer in Creek County and wild turkeys from South Texas to the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Joe's love for exploration took him far beyond Oklahoma. His travels included Alaska, Hawaii, and even as far as Greece. He was a faithful member of Beaver Street Baptist Church and proudly served with the American Legion Post 95 in Jenks.
Joe will be remembered for his gentle wisdom, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the stories, memories, and traditions he passed down through generations.
