Services to honor and remember the life of Jimmy Ray Fritts will be 10:00 am Friday, September 21, 2018 in the Chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:30-7:30 pm Thursday at Bixby Funeral Service. Born March 30, 1945 in Tulsa, Jimmy Ray Fritts was the son of Loy Alfred and Louise (Howe) Fritts. Reared and educated in his birth community, it was at Monroe schools, in Tulsa, that Jimmy met a beautiful, young woman named Nancy Jones. The two fell in love and would later marry. Jimmy continued his education at McLain High School before entering the United States Army at the age of 18. While in the service, Jimmy was a mechanic. He often shared the story of rigging up a shower, with a water pump, while in the Mojave Desert where he quickly became the favorite amongst his fellow troops!Upon his honorable discharge, Jimmy went to work using his hands. He could do just about anything and practically did! He was a great mechanic and could tell what was wrong with a car - just by listening. He later worked as a trim carpenter and was especially proud to work alongside his son, Jamey in this endeavor. Through the years, Jimmy enjoyed anything to do with motorcycles, dune buggy's, and fast cars! He was once a member of a Dune Buggy Club and built his own dune buggy using a Volkswagen engine. In his younger days, he also raced motorcycles and, later on, rode alongside his son to at least 26 different states. Going to the lake was once a favorite pastime, however, Jimmy wouldn't fish because he couldn't outfish Nancy. Instead, Jimmy would drive the boat and took a portable TV to watch while Nancy reeled them in!Described as superman, Jimmy was well-loved and would help anyone who needed it. He was a great father and husband. He was a great friend and an all-around good guy! He made friends easily and knew how to keep them. This, as he still maintained contact with friends from high school, friends he met through racing and friends from the construction industry.Jimmy left an impact on the lives of many.
