A graveside ceremony honoring Jimmie Ray Blevins will be held 2 PM Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Thursday, December 29, at the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby.
Jimmie passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022 at his residence in Mounds. He was 73 years old.
Born April 2, 1949 in Tulsa, Jimmie was the middle son of Jack Dale and Lorene Edna (Rich) Blevins. Jimmie mostly grew up in the Tulsa area. The son of a construction worker, Jimmie also lived in Kansas, as well as the Kiamichi Mountains.
Jimmie was a graduate of McClain High School in Tulsa. An outdoorsman from an early age, Jimmie loved hunting and fishing throughout his lifetime. He really enjoyed spending time with his children while doing so. Jimmie served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. It was there Jimmie served as a truck driver in the Army convoys.
An experienced heavy equipment operator, Jimmie pursued a career locally with Watkins Sand. It was a real treasure for Jimmie to hunt for buffalo and arrowheads in the Arkansas River. Additionally, he worked for Miser Asphalt, County District 2 as a water manager, for Tom Purcell installing septic systems, and served as manager of the Arrowhead Ranch.
It would be an understatement to say that everybody loved Jimmie Ray Blevins. He certainly made a lot of friends everywhere that he went. Jimmie will be dearly missed by a host of family who loved him.
Surviving family include his children, Jason Ray Blevins and wife, Leanna Rose, Janelle Renae Blevins and husband, Chais, and Jamie Hagan; his grandchildren, Drew Austin Holmes and wife, Leah, Alexander Ace Wind Killion, Hunter Ashton Wind Killion, Jacob Alexander Blevins, Anna Mae Blevins, Henry Samuel Blevins, and Elizabeth Ann Bachtell and husband, Wyatt; his great-grandson, Jonah Ray Bachtell; as well as his brothers, Dale and Roy Blevins, and his beloved dog, Sambo.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents.
