Jim passed away on Friday in Tulsa. He was 77.Born July 19, 1941 in Prague, Oklahoma, Jimmy Lee Coleman was the first of two sons gifted to Lawrence "Buck" and Elenora (Newell) Coleman and would later become a big brother to David. Growing up in Prague, it seemed that even from an early age Jim lived life to the fullest! Some might even say he lived on the edge. In his early days, it would not have been uncommon for Jim to have been riding a motorcycle or in the driver's seat of a car driving either one fast! Through these activities, he had his runnin' buddies and that would remain a common theme throughout Jim's life as he never met a stranger. Although he liked fast cars and nice things, Jim learned that he had to work for these things. To learn the value of hard work, Jim would work first for his grandfather at the local cotton gin and later for his parents who owned the dry cleaner's in Prague. In addition, Jim would also have a paper route and worked for the local filling station before leaving Prague to attend Okmulgee Tech where he received training to learn more about the printing industry. Once he completed his degree at Okmulgee Tech, Jim would work for Miller Printing in Tulsa as a lithographer or as Jim liked to tease as a 'stripper'. Eventually, Jim would own his own business in Tulsa, Litho Negative. After successfully operating his business for several years, Jim sold that business and began working as a Technical Sales Representative for numerous printing manufacturers. Most recently and currently, he was employed by the Oldham Group. Retiring briefly, Jim decided to go all out with woodworking. Once he made all of his family and his friends every wood project known to man, he went back to work! That, because Jim thoroughly enjoyed working. When not woodworking or at work, Jim was a huge auto racing fan and enjoyed following the sport - his all-time favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He and son, Kent attended the first Chili Bowl race in Tulsa and have continued to make that an annual tradition. He also made the trip to the Knoxville Nationals numerous times. In addition to racing, Jim enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of Tulsa, OU, OSU and the Dallas Cowboys. A man who kept his yard, cars and home immaculate, Jim has been described as: hardworking, giving, outgoing, kind, opinionated, a bit stubborn, disciplined and regimented (in a good way). He was mostly early, but for sure always on time and was even a good cook!Jim was a son, a brother, a father, a husband, a grandfather and a dear friend. The imprint and impact that his life left will not soon be forgotten. And those that he knew and loved will dearly miss Jim. Those he leaves to cherish his memory include: his wife, Glenice Dame; son, Kent Coleman and wife Teresa of Bixby; daughter, Darla (Coleman) Fulton of Broken Arrow; brother, David Coleman and wife, Donna of Tulsa; five grandchildren: Justin Coleman, Brandon Wilson and wife, Shae, Bryan Wilson, Kristin Hansen and husband, Eric and Jamye Davis. He is also survived by numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. Jim passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 in Tulsa. He was 77.He was preceded in death by his parents: Buck and Elenora Coleman.Visitation Bixby Funeral Service 13307 S.
