My dad had this silly trick where he would point two fingers straight into my eyes. It didn’t matter if I was giving him the silent treatment, if I was sad, happy, or even if we were out in public—he’d do it anyway. And every single time, it made me laugh. I’m talking full, belly laugh.
It was so simple. Sometimes annoying. But he couldn’t help himself. If there was ever an opportunity to bring a little joy, he jumped in with both feet.
As his disease progressed, it slowly took pieces of him—his facial expressions, his ability to speak, his mobility, even parts of his memory. But it never took his love for life. He fought to be a part of everything he possibly could.
Even in the hardest moments, he showed people what walking by faith looks like. I truly believe he would go through all of it again—the pain, the fear—if it meant leading even one person closer to the Lord.
Thank you, Dad, for everything.
I love you,

We miss you Jeff and will see you one day! Found this picture by accident today! When our families were young!
Jeff, my big brother since the day I was born. My big brother has known me all of my life, so you can believe I have plenty of memories. Jeff is a brother who I know always loves and supports me, he is competitive and challenging and he is always there when I look for him. I want to share a couple of the cherished things Jeff has done for me.
Jeff gave me a sister! The day he married Lori I got a sister and I have never considered her a sister-in-law. Lori, my sister, one of the most loving, supportive, strongest, bravest and beautiful women I know, also chose me to be her little brother. Thank you Jeff. It doesn’t stop there, Jeff and Lori also gave me three nieces, all of whom I see different pieces of Jeff in. Sarah, Valorie and Rachel, sorry, I’m an uncle you don’t get to choose.
The best memory I have of my big brother Jeff, is the night he became my big brother in Christ. On an old clay road headed to the dome home, the Holy Spirit came to me so I stopped. I got out of the truck and as I was taking to God you know who came down that same dirt road that night, my big brother Jeff and my sister Lori. Jeff led me in a prayer of confession, redemption and salvation. We became the most important of brothers that night. Thank you Jesus and Jeff.
I miss my big brother, but to me he is not gone, he is in Lori and the girls, and he is still here in me.
Thank you big brother
I love you,
Steven
